Some (not so) short term plans and ideas

There has been an idea fumbling around in my head for some time about what I want to do with myself in the next, say 5 years. Nothing related to work or my personal life, but more concerning with my love for travel. I been having this recurring idea about some complex road trip around the US. I want to visit all the little town, villages, and cities of the US.

There is not much reasoning behind it, apart from my profound love for road trips, (seriously, so much fun) and new scenery. I keep having this idea of criss-crossing the heartland and getting a taste of “Americana” like you read on the little booklets and pamphlets that you find at rest stops all over the country.

I keep thinking to myself, “a few years from now, one summer, once all your college debt has been payed off, once you have a steady job, why not save up some money, buy a motorcycle (a Ducati, sorry Harley fans, Italians do it better) and just hit the road”
Start out small. Just go to some small places a couple of hours away from where I live. See how well I can fend for myself out there. Meet the locals, find out from them the best places to go for food and entertainment. Visit not so well known hot spots. Meet people. Get to know them and learn some history. Take some pictures. Discover new scenery and slowly as years go by, go farther, travel farther away from home. Learn how other people live. “Just get lost in the woods and see what you find” idea.

I think I’ll start a blog on the road (I think I’ll call it “A taste of Americana.” eh?). Upload pictures/videos and tell stories. Not just my story on the road, but their story. The people I meet. What life is like outside “my bubble,” what other people do, how they think, how they act. Its all exciting to me.

I think there is a little adventurer inside all of us, so why not listen to it? See where it takes you. You never know what you’ll find out there. So why not take the gamble? What do you have to lose?
